Pathfinder Studies and Pathways Explained

18 Pathfinder studies for optimized cardiovascular care

Choosing between Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) is traditionally made by the heart team—cardiologists and surgeons—without formally including the patient's preferences.

This study introduces a digital platform for Patient Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (ePROMs & ePREMs) to help tailor decisions to each patient’s values and expectations.

Study Highlights:

  • Goal: Evaluate whether pre-procedure ePROMs can predict outcomes and guide treatment choices aligned with patient preferences
  • Participants: 500 adults with significant 1- or 2-vessel disease involving the LAD
  • Secondary Goal: Track how often clinical decisions align with patient-reported priorities and understand reasons for divergence

This approach aims to make coronary care more personalized, informed, and patient-centered.
