Pathfinder Studies and Pathways Explained

18 Pathfinder studies for optimized cardiovascular care

POCT AMBU

Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death and healthcare costs. Paramedics are vital in early decision-making, yet current tools are limited. While ECGs are standard in ambulances, Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) for NT-proBNP—a key marker for heart failure—is not yet used in the field.

This clinical study explores the value of NT-proBNP testing in ambulances:

  • Support faster, more accurate triage of patients with dyspnoea
  • Potentially reduce unnecessary hospital admissions
  • Assess paramedics’ experiences using POCT through targeted questionnaires

By empowering paramedics with better tools, we aim to improve outcomes before patients even reach the hospital.
