Pathfinder Studies and Pathways Explained

18 Pathfinder studies for optimized cardiovascular care

POCT HF

This study focuses on the use of point-of-care testing (POCT) to support early detection of heart failure (HF) outside traditional healthcare settings. By implementing NT-proBNP testing, a reliable biomarker for cardiac stress, at publicly accessible health screening stations, the study aims to identify individuals showing early symptoms of HF, such as shortness of breath or peripheral edema. These easily accessible POC sites offer a practical solution for reaching individuals with limited interaction with primary care, enabling timely diagnosis and referral. As part of the EuroHeartPath initiative, this study contributes to developing scalable, community-based strategies to improve cardiovascular care and promote health equity across Europe.
